Roses, festoon lights, picnic benches on the grass and wicker chairs on the paving.
The garden opens out behind the pub with room to spread out, and space to hear yourself talk.
The garden
The sail canopy stretches over a whole run of tables, with festoon lights strung beneath it for when the afternoon stretches on.
Cool shade in July, dry shelter when a Sunday cloud drifts over. The white picnic-bench umbrellas over the grass do the same job further out.
When the sun's too much
Yes, we're the pub with the garden igloos.
Two of them, in the garden, clear sides and warm inside. Bookable for lunch or dinner, or a warm dry spot to sit with a drink and watch the light change. Just mention 'dome' in the notes when you book.
The domes
The best-loved corner of the garden
A wooden fort with a slide, a climbing wall, ropes and a covered lookout, standing on soft bark chippings in its own area.
The whole garden is enclosed, sealed off from the car park and the outside world, so children can roam between the play area and your table while you watch from your seat and sip something cold.

The practical bits
Parking is easy: we have our own free car park with plenty of space, so no circling the lanes with a car full of hungry children.
Booking ahead is wise for Sunday lunch, our busiest service.
HOW TO Find us
The Brewery Tap sits in Furneux Pelham, a village in the lanes where Hertfordshire meets Essex.
About fifteen minutes from Bishop's Stortford and Stansted Mountfitchet, twenty from Ware and Saffron Walden, and around half an hour from Harlow. Worth the drive for a beer garden that isn't a car park with picnic benches.

Make an afternoon of it
Sunday is the perfect day to visit.
Roasts inside, roasts under the canopy, roasts in the domes if it's chilly, and the kitchen serves until 4pm so nobody's hurried.
