Dogs are welcome here
Not tolerated, welcomed. There's a jar of dog treats on the bar and a bowl beside the pumps, so yours will be greeted before you are.
In the garden there's a water station with fresh bowls by the tap, and inside there's room to flop by the log burner while you eat.
Walk first, lunch after
The village is criss-crossed with footpaths, and walkers already know it.
The North Herts Ramblers use The Brewery Tap as the meeting point for their dog friendly walks programme, so you'll be starting where the experts start.
Our two favourites, mapped by the good people at Hertfordshire Walker, are the South Loop, five miles out past the Patmore Heath nature reserve and back, and the West Loop through the fields west of the village.
Our free car park makes it an easy base. Park once , walk, then eat.
The dog isn't the only one spoilt here.
There's a climbing frame, swings and a wagon playhouse for them, water bowls for the dog, and a table with your name on it in the middle. Everything for families is here.
Bring the kids too
The practical bits
Parking is easy - we have our own free car park with plenty of space, so it's boots on, leads clipped, and straight out into the lanes.
Booking ahead is wise for Sunday lunch, our busiest service. Just mention the dog when you book and we'll seat you somewhere with flopping room.
HOW TO Find us
The Brewery Tap sits in Furneux Pelham, a village in the lanes where Hertfordshire meets Essex.
We're about fifteen minutes from Bishop's Stortford and Stansted Mountfitchet, twenty from Ware and Saffron Walden, and around half an hour from Harlow.
Bring the family too - we have a play area and a Sunday roast worth the drive. Read about our Sunday roast, or everything for families.

Make a DAY of it.
Make a DAY of it.
Sunday is the perfect day to visit.
Start with one of the loops out through the lanes, arrive with a well-walked dog, and settle in for one of our four roasts. There's a treat waiting on the bar and a water bowl in the garden, so yours is looked after before your gravy's even poured.
There's no rush here. Dogs can flop by the log burner while you eat, the car park is free, and the kitchen serves until 4pm on Sundays, so muddy boots and tired paws can take as long as they like.
